The Land
Buffalo Butte Ranch is a 6,000 acre privately owned and operated pheasant farm which has been in our family for five generations. Our Buffalo Butte Ranch pheasant hunts are in a variety of cover including milo, corn, sudan grass, cattails, tree belts and winding natural waterways and draws. Much of the land west of the Missouri River is marginal farmland and is not planted fence line to fence line. Because of the natural terrain and conservation practices such as CRP and shelter belts, the native pheasants flourish. With over 6,000 acres to hunt your corporate trip will have many lasting memories.
Exclusive Pheasant Hunts
All of our pheasant hunts are exclusive hunts. We let you choose your own friends and who you want to hunt with. You are welcomed to bring your own dogs, provided all shots are current.
Early Season Hunts
Buffalo Butte Ranch also offers a preserve hunt starting Sept. 1 to the end of the season. Bird limits can be increased on a per bird fee above the 3 bird state limit.
Late Season Hunts
The late season pheasant hunting in South Dakota is EXCELLENT in December... especially at the Buffalo Butte Ranch. The roosters have been shot at all year, are more wiley and are bunched up.
Corporate Hunts

Small Group Hunts
Buffalo Butte Ranch is also able to provide guided hunting experiences on a smaller scale, for groups of 3-6 hunters. We enjoy helping friends and family reconnect while hunting and relaxing at Buffalo Butte Ranch.
South Dakota Opener
For some hunters, the South Dakota pheasant season opener is a once per year event that they live for. At Buffalo Butte Ranch, we pride ourselve in making opening weekend hunts a memorable experience for all of our hunters.
South Dakota Pheasant Season Dates
Season Dates: 3rd weekend in October to December 31st
Early Season Dates: September 1st - March 31st
Limit: 3 cock pheasant per day limit in South Dakota.
Pheasant Hunting Rates
2 day 3 night hunts - $1,495.00
3 day 4 night hunts - $2,095.00
Non-shooting guest, pilots (per day) - $150.00

Pheasant Hunts Include
Professional guides, professional trained dogs(pointers and flushers), lodging and daily maid service, excellent home cooked meals, pheasant processing and freezing, transportation while on hunt, and warm up at the clay trap shoot.
The Pheasant Hunter Must Provide: Transportation to/from Buffalo Butte Ranch, (Gregory or Winner airport pickup available), coolers, and license (available locally) and guns.
Safety & Guidelines
As with any sport, hunting has its risks. The risks can be greatly minimized with some simple safety rules. If everyone abides by these simple rules, then we can have a fun-filled hunt! "Blaze Orange" Hunters must abide by the guidelines set by Buffalo Butte Ranch. NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED during hunts! Following these guidelines will help make it a SAFE, FUN, and EXCITING hunt!
Gun Rental
Don't worry if you don't have a gun! We are renting 10 Mossberg guns to hunters starting this 2012 season. 8 over unders and 2 semi autos.
